Georgian Mourning Bracelet with Amethyst , c.’1828′

Here is the most beautiful and amazing woven hair bracelet we’ve ever seen. The center plaque and clasp combination highlights a uniquely-cut, elongated octagonal amethyst with a faceted back and a cabochon (or buff-cut) top. The 18 karat yellow gold cartouche plaque is elaborately decorated with highly-baroque repousse work. However, the truly amazing aspect of this rare and gorgeous piece is the 4 and 3/4 inch-long by 1 and 3/16 inch-wide bracelet composed of intricately woven human hair! The reverse of the bracelet is engraved – “Esther Barlow Heyworth – Oct, 13th, Feb 1828 At, 18.” 7 inches long by 1 and 3/4 inches wide. Extraordinary and, after almost two centuries, in pristine condition!
