The Freedom Diamond

The Freedom Diamond is the largest cut diamond found in United States and was discovered in the Kelsey Lake Diamond Mine in Colorado in 1997. It is a 16.86 carat cushion cut diamond now set in a beautiful three-stone ring. The stone was cut from a rough diamond crystal weighing 28.20 carats. The Kelsey Lake Mine, where it was discovered, was opened in 1996 but was never commercially successful, meaning not enough diamonds were found to keep it operational. Even though it closed five years later, the fascinating mine left us with a few incredible American diamonds. The mine also remains the only modern diamond mine in American history.

This fancy intense yellow radiant diamond measuring 11.13 x 8.34 x 6.01 mm is custom set in a handcrafted Shreve, Crump & Low platinum and 18 karat yellow gold 3 stone ring consisting of 1 radiant cut fancy intense yellow diamond weighing 5.07 carats with color and clarity of Fancy Intense Yellow SI2 accompanied by GIA report No. 2155529810, accented by 2 shield cut diamonds with a total weight of approximately 1.37 carats, and a respective color and clarity of E-F VS1-VS2 quality, as well as an additional 14 round brilliant cut colorless pave diamonds set into either side of the mounting (.20 carats total weight). The setting is a ring size 6.5, and is stamped with our maker’s hallmark “Shreve Crump & Low” “PLAT” “18k” on inside of ring shank.

This gorgeous and high quality vintage diamond cocktail ring has an absolutely one of a kind design featuring a dazzling 1.70ct old European cut diamond paired with an additional old European cut diamond and vintage single cut diamonds to create the illusion of a huge pear cut diamond. Bright white and completely eye clean, the large center diamond has a fantastic, lively look! Cut by hand in the 1920s – 1930s, it is completely unique with wide hand-cut facets that give it an air of old world charm! The 14k white gold setting is accented with baguette cut diamonds and richly textured with a gorgeous florentine finish! This dynamic design is truly inventive and has a striking look! This is a very rare original vintage piece that was masterfully crafted with a truly one of a kind design! The ring is certified by EGL-USA and appraised by UGS with a substantial retail replacement value of $19,570. The 1.70ct center diamond is graded H-I for color, and it faces up beautifully white. Graded SI2 for clarity, it is 100% eye clean. A great SI2, the primary inclusion is white and located on the side of the stone. It blends in perfectly and is completely invisible to the naked eye. The accent diamonds are bright white and completely eye clean, graded F-G for color and VS1-SI1 for clarity. Overall, the ring displays absolutely fantastic, eye-catching sparkle! The setting is made of solid 14k white gold, and it is a perfect complement for the bright white sparkle of the diamonds. The ring has great substance at 4.7 grams and feels very luxurious on the hand. Between the substantial 14k white gold setting, the nearly 2 carat of diamonds, and the rare vintage provenance, this ring is high in intrinsic value making it a solid long term investment.
